Rent a work of art

Wednesday, 28 March 2012 3:17 PM

Do you sit and look at works of art longingly wishing you could have a piece in your home?

A new service called Rise Art makes this possible with the launch of a rental art service.

Basically a user can choose an original art work and rent it out for a period of time.

All of the original works are created by established or up-and-coming artists.

Some names you may recognise are Chris Shaw Hughes, Tahnee Lonsdale and Edd Pearman.

Another benefit of the rental process is that you can take the art work home and if it does not suit the space you had in mind simply rent a new art work when the lease comes to an end or exchange it for something else.

If you fall in love with the art work and never want to give it back 50 per cent of the money you spent renting it can be put towards buying it.

If you don’t need a weekly artwork but maybe are having clients over or holding a big function this service can also come in handy renting feature art to change the visual appearance of a room or impress a visitor.

An independent board of curators make the art selections for the website and to help people choose their item the service has a quiz you can take which tailors the online search to your likes and expectations of an art work.

This is an ideal way for renters to give a bit of character to their urban pad without the added trouble of sourcing an original piece and having to organise for its transport when you move house.
